Damine Terrace

Damine Kannon Temple is one of the three great Kannon temples of the Mikawa region. You'll find this spot steeped in reverence, history, and tradition hidden away in the lush, surrounding nature of Shitara Town. And just a stone's throw away is Damine Terrace, offering a view of Damine Castle, which still holds an air of Japan's turbulent Warring States period among the mountains of the Okumikawa region. Of particular beauty is when the cherry blossoms bloom behind Damine Castle in spring, making for the perfect backdrop for your bike in a special biking, mountain castle, and cherry blossoms experience.
And while you're here, don't miss the famous flavors of gohei mochi—grilled rice cakes on a stick, covered in a sweet miso sauce—using local rice as well as sumptuous Damine soba noodles, fragrant Damine black tea, and other mouthwatering fare you'll only find in the town of Shitara.
