The gods that dwell in Okumikawa are always close to humans, and the easygoing gods dance and play with humans at this festival. There are seven gods that are considered to bring about good luck in Japan. Those seven gods dance about as they speak with the shrine's senior priest. The gods appearing at this festival are more eccentric than you could ever imagine. Daikokuten, the god of fertility, keeps the "numekura bo" a wooden, phallus-shaped stick hidden in the beginning, saying that it's something that he can't show. Then, when the head priest urges him, the god reveals the wooden phallus to spectators at last. Everyone there watching this busts out laughing. They forget the cold and enjoy their time spent with the gods.
